The CDK Payment Settling API is now available for contracting through Fortellis. The latest addition to the CDK APIs listed in the Fortellis API Directory, helps eliminate manual entry of payment information into the CDK DMS by parts and service team members in dealership. The release of this API is intended to make payment integration into the CDK DMS easier for customer experience solutions and payment processors. For our dealer customers this means that you’ll have a wider choice of solution providers to choose from to provide the best end user experience. 

Invite-2-Pay - Supporting operations during Covid-19 

Payment Settling API supports settling of remote payments by third party payment processors that have made remote payments available. As a dealer it enables you to send a payment link to the customer via text or email. We have seen a surge in the usage of this feature in the last two months as customers choose to have fewer interactions with service personnel due to the spread of Covid-19.

How the API works

The primary feature of Payment Settling API is that it enables software solution providers to process payments outside of the CDK DMS and then post it back to the DMS within a few seconds.

The API then returns a PromiseID for each payment that the solution provider settles and this PromiseID can be queried to check on the status of the payment.

The Payment Settling API helps settle payments for Repair Orders and Parts Orders. (note: extract of Repair Orders will need access to the repair order API and extract of Parts Orders will need access to Parts Voice).

PayNow enables dealers to take payments at the dealership while Invite-2-Pay enables remote payments.

The dealership has to approve the payment on the CDK DMS for the payment request to get settled.

Improving end user experience - UpdatePromise and MyKaarma 

Through the beta process, the Payment Settling API has proven to offer a superior user experience for both dealers and their customers. UpdatePromise and MyKaarma were the solution providers who were part of the beta release.

Speaking of the recent BETA program, Mark Kujacznski, ePayments Project Manager said  “UpdatePromise and MyKaarma have been tremendous to work with.  They are very tech savvy.  It’s been a real joy working through the process with them.”

Both solution providers have been using Payment Settling to settle online and in-person payments which has made the dealership workflow faster while also reducing data entry errors.
